Taste of India
Cuisine:
Indian
Stef and I went to Tandoori Hut several years ago, and it was pretty tasty Indian food (though no HOI - as nothing is like HOI). It's now under new management (and a new name), and they're very excited to see us there. We're excited to be going! So why don't you join us?

Hwy 61 Roadhouse
Cuisine:
Barbecue,
Cajun/Creole,
Seafood
This is a fairly new place and has gotten some rave reviews (from my mom). They have a New Orleans style and prices look fairly reasonable, at least compared to those in New Jersey where I'm writing from right now.

Mimis Cafe
Cuisine:
American
Why don't they have an apostrophe in the name of their restaurant? Why on their site do they sometimes have one and other times not? It's maddening. Hopefully they're more clear about what they serve than what they call themselves!

Marco's Restaurant
Marco's is a soul food restaurant that occupies the former space of Empire Steak, which occupied the former space of Dairy Queen, which I believe was something else before that 20 years ago. They're doing us the kind favor of opening up on Monday night and setting up their steam table where you get 1 meat, 2 sides, and bread for $8.99 (with desserts and drinks extra). Typically they have greens, ribs, fish, and other flavorful treats! They mentioned sweet potato pie as a dessert that they might serve. MMMMmmmmmm!!
Because they're opening up special for us, I'd like to bring a huge party. If you've been lurking and haven't joined us, this would be a great chance to see what we're all about. The restaurant has asked us to call the lovely Pam with a count on Sunday, which means that we need you to RSVP before then.

Atomic Cowboy
We're doing another special dinner - this time we're going to be postponed a few days due to the Labor Day holiday; we'll be going out to support KDHX 88.1 FM as they have a benefit on Wednesday night (http://www.kdhx.org/tastes/). I've never been here but I've always wanted to try it out. We'll be outside in the Hut! I have no idea what that means but doesn't it sound great?!

Cuisine:

While this place has a number of dishes at $17 and over, they also look like they have a fair number of pizza and salad and other selections for less - like fondue, mussels, quiche, pasta, etc. So let's check this place out, shall we?

Top of the Riverfront at the Millenium Hotel
Cuisine:
American
Our next get-together falls during St. Louis Restaurant Week, so we're going to do something a little different. We've already made a reservation for 15 (we can expand this if needed) at the Top of the Riverfront restaurant downtown, and it's a 3 course meal for $25 plus tip and tax. Attire looks to be business casual if not a bit spiffier, and call them if you have questions about that.
Stef says a past highlight of dining here is that the bread is in the shape of the arch. How can you beat that?! With good company, of course! I highly recommend that you RSVP as soon as possible so we can alter the reservation. I don't think they'll be able to just squeeze one or two in as other places do.
After I sent out the initial email, Stef told me that I made an error and
also that I didn't state arguably the most exciting thing about the
restaurant. So, I present you with these additional pieces of
information, in the order listed above:
1) It is called "Downtown Restaurant Week" and not "St. Louis Restaurant
Week." This shouldn't sway anybody in either direction, but if it does
then please let me know - I'm curious.
2) The restaurant revolves. If you have a bad seat, it may become a good
seat. If you have a bad view (i.e. you're unable to see out any
windows), it may continue to be bad, but you can take comfort that
some people in our party will be enjoying an ever-changing landscape.
You may get lost on the way back from the restroom. You may get dizzy
as the restaurant revolves out of control and takes flight like a large
Aerobie(1) through the Arch and ends up caught in a tree at the casino
across the river where you will be compelled to gamble away your
fortune. Now isn't that exciting?!

Cuisine:

This place has what I think may be the best gyro in town, and the dessert
was fantastic too. Don't miss this once-in-a-dinner-club opportunity.
Neither Stef nor I have been able to get in touch with the restaurant,
which could mean that their power's out. So let's meet up there and if
they are not open, we'll pick some place close and improvise.

Han Gook Kwan
Cuisine:
Korean
Han Gook Kwan serves up great Korean food, but the service can be a bit
slow so expect a relaxing evening. Typically the meal starts off with all
sorts of kimchi (no, it's not all cabbage) served with rice, then
appetizers, and finally the main event. Nothing quite finishes the meal
off like some warm soju - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soju for
recommendations on the proper, polite way to drink it. Would anyone like
to volunteer to record violations of the protocol?

Taft Street Restaurant and Bar
Cuisine:
Bar/Grill/Pubs
It's a bit curious that the address of the Taft Street Restaurant and Bar isn't on Taft Street (and in fact it's Taft *Avenue* and Gravois), but I'm willing to overlook that - and you should, too. This is a Bosnian restaurant that's gotten great reviews and has won awards. We haven't been Bosnianing in a while, so join us for some circle bread with a circle of friends!

We're doing a Tuesday dinner because I won't be in town on Monday.
I was here once, it tasted very good, and lots of people claim it's the best around. Let's all go and see for ourselves. I know it says to do so below, but please remember to RSVP if you'll be going as the place isn't huge and I want to make sure they can accomodate all of us.

I was here for lunch once and dinner another time before they changed their format, but I enjoyed those two meals. Oh - what kind of food is this? Russian food! Guo Bin Chinese Restaurant
Cuisine:
Chinese
This place has been around forever, and it's pretty good Americanized Chinese food. We could all share a dinner for 14, or order individually - the possibilities are endless! In case you aren't exactly sure where this is, it is located at the SW corner of the intersection of 170 and Delmar.

Cuisine:
Bar/Grill/Pubs
This place was suggested by Kimberly, and it looks like it'll be a fun place to go as a large group. The restaurant occupies what used to be the St. Louis branch of the Playboy Club, and the fixtures and furnishings seem more vintage than retro.
What really matters for a Dinner Club outings is the food and company, so please join and help make it an enjoyable experience!

Sorry this is going out so late. Almost all of the places that I called were closed on Mondays. At any rate, it's time again to dine together.
I've never been to this location and if the food's anything like their CWE one, it's very tasty and Welsh. It's also going to be busy, so it's imperative that you RSVP!

El Mundo Latino
Cuisine:
Spanish/Latino
This coming Monday, a new restaurant is going to open up special just for us! El Mundo Latino, normally closed on Mondays, serves up dishes ranging from tacos and burritos to fish and sirloin in Latin American spices; it has taken over the former space of JaBoni's across from what used to be Mangrove and they'd love to have our large party become acquainted with their flavors. The only catch to the whole deal is that they need to know on Friday how many people will be there.
Price range: $6 for basic entrees up to $20 for gourmet entrees.
El Mundo Latino is doing us a great favor by opening up special and I think it would be wonderful if we could return the favor by getting a great turnout. I'm also going to ask that you RSVP as soon as you can so they can get a count by Friday.
