Ginger Bistro

Remember the Blockbuster video store in the Loop? Well, it's gone. Ginger Bistro takes its place, "infusing French and North American culinary techniques with time proven recipes from China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and other parts of the Pan Pacific region." In Blockbuster terms, that's combining the Foreign Films section with the Action and Drama, then putting the whole thing in New Releases. Let's just hope the combination doesn't also dabble in Horror.

As Banh Mi Boba, this place had a huge following of enthusiastic eaters. They've renovated and made some changes recently and it's time for us to check this place out. The menu appears to have all manner of crepes, subs, salads, and even gyros.

Zen

The reviews of this place look good, and the person who answered the phone seemed friendly. They appear to serve Thai and Japanese/sushi that's "among the best in town" according to the Post-Dispatch. It's somewhat hard to find, so the hint I'll pass on is that it's across from Crestwood Plaza in a strip mall. If you get leftovers, be sure to take note of their supposedly stiffer-than-normal plastic foam containers!

Ryce Oriental Buffet

Despite the rather archaic name, Ryce Oriental Buffet has gotten great reviews for their $10 buffet that includes Mongolian BBQ, Sushi, and all of the Americanized Chinese food you could possibly eat. They also have a real menu if you'd rather not sample food from over THREE (3) countries -- that's China, Japan, and Mongolia -- but how could you really resist?! The buffet calls to you...

Buffet City

While it seems like roasting over an open flame and raw might be contradictory, Buffet City is going to try to prove that wrong - not only do they have BBQ but they also have sushi on their giant (over 200 item) buffet. If you're a picky eater, you probably can find something here.
