Mayuri Indian Restaurant

Mayuri is an Indian restaurant that took over the space formerly occupied by Ruchi (where we went almost a year ago!). It's gotten some good reviews and we haven't had Indian in ages!

  1. the service was HORRIBLE but the food was FABULOUS. I had the lentil crepe. It was as big as my head! Actually, it was abt 3 times as long as my head! The lentil crepe itself was good, but I asked to have it filled with chicken in addition to whatever vegetarian stuff it came with. It was a lot of crepe and very litle filling (the other person who ordered that said the same thing).
I had some of the other people's food, including the soup and some kind of vegetarian dish. Can't remember what it was, but I do remember it was fantastic. Oh, the waitstaff have this ridiculous rule about providing some extra food for an extra $5 but ONLY if you order a special entree. I tried to pay them the extra $5 to get the extra food, and they flat-out refused. I think that's what they call "biting off your nose to spite your face."
So that made me very angry, and quite frankly, that is bad business as well as poor customer service. At least the food was good.
As for Indian, though, I'll stay closer to home and stick with my favorites: House of India on Delmar at 170, and India's Rasoi. I haven't been to their new location in the CWE, but their old one was always fantastic.
